CHRISTMAS PLATES: A TRADITION AS YET TO BE DISCOVERED

Collectable ceramics and iconic fabrics for an extremely stylish Christmas mise en place

Blanc MariClo' - Piatti di Natale Blanc MariClo'

If one of the most classic lyrics for the season recites “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas”, we too are dreaming of a Christmas that is white, but not too white. Inspired by the most candid of all colors, the symbol of both the shabby look and of snow, that makes any winter atmosphere all the more suggestive, we have prepared an iconic and extremely stylish Christmas table setting.

Along with the fabrics and the decorations, the great protagonists of this mise en place for December 25th, are the collectable plates that enrich any table setting, with festive and chic decorations. Along with the white, we have added red and green brush strokes, to create a very delicate, decorative harmony.

To delight your guests with a beautiful table, in addition to tasty dishes, learn how to create an impeccable mise en place with Blanc MariClo’ Christmas plates.

Christmas plates: a Blanc MariClo’ tradition as yet to be discovered

Blanc MariClo' - Mise en place Natale

Year after year, our autumn and winter catalogues provide those enamored of the Blanc MariClo’ style with collectable plates created especially for the Christmas season. Ceramics that are white as snow, or butter-colored, with a large tree in the middle and a border that changes based on the nuances of our textile collections. A recent tradition that is however destined to last over time, to mark the arrival of every 25th of December with one more holiday ritual.

The plates created for Christmas 2021 combine Christmas iconography with a floral decorated border. These elements, combined with the unique color tone achieved by desaturating burgundy red, give the Diana Rose Christmas ceramics that certain antique flavor that we so love. Have you already placed them in your cupboard, ready for Christmas? If the answer is yes, remember that you can add to your collection, with the tureen, the dessert riser and the trays from the same collection.

But let’s see how to pair these ceramic plates to table linens and decorations, to create the perfect Christmas mise en place.

Christmas mise en place with collectable plates and table linens from the White Christmas line

Blanc MariClo’ - Tavola di Natale

The Christmas table that we are presenting here combines the atmosphere of the holiday season with the delicateness of the shabby look. The motif that decorates the fabrics with boughs of holly, ribbons and Victorian prints is suffused and nuanced. The elegant, lace table skirt brushes against the floor like a light caress. The decoration on the Christmas plates is sophisticated and subdued, and reminiscent of the motifs typical of vintage ceramics.

The result is a rarified and poetic Christmas ambience in which the combination of the nuances and the ornaments contributes to creating a decorative leitmotiv that is among the most iconic of December 25th. But once having chosen the table linen and the plates, how to embellish this mise en place? First of all, arrange each place setting artfully, with an under-plate or a coordinated place mat, wine glasses and goblets, and flatware with chiseled hand-pieces.

Then, dedicate some time to the place markers: some vintage-style ornaments are just what is needed, to create a decoration to be placed on the napkin along with a small sprig of red berries and a card bearing the guest’s name. Finally, the centerpiece: if you have risers and wrought-iron candleholders, decorate them with holly and some candles for a natural but cheerful effect. Then, if you have some holly left over, you can easily transform it into a decoration for the backs of the chairs.

To recreate our Christmas table, or find more inspiration for any Christmas shopping you still have left to do, here are the details of the various collections we used:

  • White Christmas coordinated table linens;
  • Diana Rose Christmas plates;
  • Concerto di Natale under-plates;
  • Libiamo Collection glassware;
  • La Posateria Blanc mariClo’ flatware;
  • Anita Collection place marker decoration;
  • Atelier de Campagne risers and candleholders.

Christmas plates not only on the table

In addition to being ideal for setting the table on December 25th and during the holidays in general, Christmas plates may also become an original wall decoration to be completed year after year. You can hang them so they are lined up or so they form a sort of diamond shape, and create a composition similar to the one we realized in the special video tutorial dedicated to decorated walls. The possible combinations are practically infinite!

All it takes is a pinch of creativity, a wall that is somewhat bare, your favorite Christmas plates, some matching ceramics, some spring-form plate hanging hooks, nails, and a hammer. The important thing is to create a harmonious composition in terms of colors and decorations. A composition that may be added to every year, with the release of the new Blanc MariClo’ Christmas plate.

And so, we have come to the end of today’s article, the last before December 25th! The time has come to put on some background Christmas music, turn on the Christmas lights and place the presents under the tree. The table has been set: an extra gift for your guests, one more way to share the magic of a new Christmas. Infinite warm wishes from Blanc MariClo’!
